About the Artist:

Georges Bousquet (1904–1976) was a French painter known for landscapes, river and harbor scenes, city views, and still lifes. Working with expressive, painterly brushwork and a strong sensitivity to color, his paintings capture the atmosphere of twentieth-century France.

Bousquet exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris, and his work has developed an established presence on the international secondary market, appearing at auction houses including Bonhams, Skinner, Millon, and others.

Today, Bousquet’s paintings continue to be collected for their distinctive color, expressive handling of paint, and distinctly French character.
