About the Artist

Eva Bernholm is a Swedish painter who was based for many years in Rättvik, Dalarna, where she maintained a studio and participated in the long-running Konst runt Siljan arts community. Bernholm has described drawing and painting as part of her life since childhood, with color, movement and light becoming central elements of her artistic practice.

Her work encompasses landscapes, still lifes and interiors. Bernholm has also spoken about the relationship between dance and painting, describing movement as an important part of how she experiences and creates art. She was a recurring participant in the CarArt Biennale in Leksand, participating in every edition through its sixth biennale in 2018.

After many years in Rättvik, Bernholm relocated to Skåne and continued exhibiting her work in Sweden. Her long connection to Dalarna and the artistic community surrounding Lake Siljan remains an interesting part of her career.

Condition

Good vintage condition with age-related wear. Minor craquelure and areas of white spotting are present along the left side, as noted in the original condition report. The vintage frame shows minor surface wear. Please review photographs closely as they form part of the condition description.

Why We Chose It

The color immediately caught our attention — loose strokes of pink and violet wildflowers scattered across the meadow against that hazy blue ridge. We especially loved the sense of movement throughout such a small landscape and the way the distant mountains almost dissolve into the sky.
