About the Artist
Lindorm Liljefors (1909–1985) was a Swedish painter, sculptor, illustrator, naturalist and hunter, and the son of celebrated Swedish wildlife painter Bruno Liljefors. Raised among the landscapes and wildlife of the Stockholm archipelago and Uppland, Lindorm developed the intimate knowledge of the natural world that would become central to his own artistic career.
Liljefors studied painting and sculpture at the Royal Academy/College of Fine Arts in Stockholm from 1928 to 1933 before continuing his studies in France. A devoted naturalist and hunter, he became particularly known for his depictions of Swedish wildlife and landscape, including elk, game birds, foxes and hunting scenes. He also wrote extensively on wildlife and hunting for the Swedish publication Svensk Jakt.
His works continue to trade through major Scandinavian and European auction houses, including Bukowskis, and his paintings have achieved prices exceeding $12,000 at auction.
