The Silver Stroll
An original Scandinavian landscape by Finn Wennerwald (1896–1969) depicting a quiet tree-lined road winding into the distance. Loose, expressive brushwork moves through a beautiful palette of rust, ochre, moss green and silvery blue-gray, with touches of light catching the trunks and illuminating the road as it disappears around the bend.
Signed lower right and sourced in Sweden. Presented in its vintage silvered and gilt-toned frame.
About the Artist
Finn Wennerwald (1896–1969) was a Danish painter and the son of noted landscape artist Emil Wennerwald. He received his early artistic training from his father and developed his own career primarily as a landscape painter, depicting wooded paths, countryside views, coastal scenes and changing seasons.
Wennerwald later worked as a drawing teacher from 1929 to 1943 and traveled extensively throughout Europe, including Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France and Norway. His work was exhibited throughout Denmark as well as elsewhere in Europe, continuing the landscape tradition in which he had been raised while developing his own loose, expressive approach to the natural world.

Why We Chose It
The palette is what made this one — rusty foliage against a cool silvery sky, with flashes of yellow and green catching the light along the road. We especially loved the way the composition draws your eye toward the quiet bend in the distance.
