Under a Pale Sky, 1942
An original Swedish oil painting by Stig Ingvar Wirde (1914–1962), painted in 1942. A pair of pale tracks winds through an open meadow toward a solitary red cottage on the horizon, beneath an expansive, softly overcast sky. Loose brushwork and a beautifully restrained palette of sage, celadon, cream, lavender and muted yellow give the landscape an atmospheric Scandinavian quality.
Signed S. Wirde and dated 1942 lower left. Sourced in Sweden and presented in its vintage painted wood frame.

Why We Chose It
The palette immediately caught our attention — pale greens, chalky cream and soft lavender-gray beneath that enormous washed sky. We especially loved the two winding tracks leading toward the tiny red house in the distance.
